Every year we celebrate 21 September as World Peace Day or International Peace Day as declared by the United Nations.
This day was first celebrated on 21st September 1981. The day is celebrated to promote and ensure the global peace and to serve the humanity.
In 2013 , this day was dedicated to peace education by the secretory general of United Nations.
Inauguration of the day
There is a ritual which is practised every year to inaugrate the World Peace Day.
A special bell called as the " Peace Bell " is rung at the United Nation Headquarters in the New York.
What is special about the peace Bell?
The peace Bell is casted from the coins , which were donated by the childrens all over the continents excluding Africa. This bell was gifted to United Nations by the United Nations Association of Japan in 1954. The bell is a symbol of the world peace and humanity. The bell also has a message inscribed on it , which says-
" Long live absolute world peace. "
Importance of Peace Day in today's world.
Oftenly we see countries manufacturing deadliest missiles , weapons , which are deadliest for world peace. We have seen the disastrous effect of Nuclear bomb which were dropped by America on Hiroshima and Nagasaki in Japan.
The world is not ready for another such event. Now , we all have understood the importance of peace and harmony in today's world.
As there is a famous saying , " Together we grow , divided we fall. "
Role of India in world's peace.
In Indian history , India has never initiated any attacks or wars. I proudly say , India follows the principles of Humanity , non violence and love for all. In Indian culture we follow , "Vasudhaiva kutumbakum "
which means " The entire world is my family ".
However it doesn't mean that India is not capable of taking appropriate actions to the threats to humanity. Indians have proved over and over again what they are capable of , in destroying the opponents who are against the benefits of the India , and the humanity of the world.
Powerful initiates the peace.
To bring the peace you must be powerful first as nobody listen to the weak.
The nation should take all the precautory measures to ensure the world peace. The weapons should only be used to protect , not to attack.
To explain the concept of " Powerful initiates the peace " . I would like to explain this with an analogy.
In a fight have you ever seen weaker one saying , " I forgive you " and the fight ends.
In most of the cases , the answer will be no. It never happens , because to bring peace , you should be stronger first.
Is a particular religion against Peace?
It's often said that a particular religion is against peace. Is it?
The answer is No , Never . No religion preach us violence or hatred towards other humans. The one who claims so , is the biggest enemy for the world peace.
None of the religion is bad , the human who commits such crimes are bad.
Every religion preach us the principles of humanity and love for all.
What should we do?
• Learn to forgive as well as to take actions , when required. Because sometimes forgiving is not really the correct option.
• Love each human , respect their thoughts, religion , nationality , colour.
• Your life is to small to waste on disturbing the peace.
" Violence gives momentarily pleasure , whereas love gives permament joy. "
• Bring the inner peace.
