In today's society , we all are using social media. I recently realised it when my 9 year old cousin sent me a friend request on facebook. But , Do you think social media is appropriate for a 9 year old kid , where people post adultery , harsh and disturbing content?
My personal thought is NO , it isn't.
I can agree that it was developed with a good intention , but gradually it showed it's ugly side as well.
Let's discuss.
Hypocisy of Social Media-
The Social media platform were invented to increase our connectivity with the world. They were created so that there is not a factor of distance between two persons willing to contact. But , do you know we are least social right now , in comparison to decades. There used to be a time when we were so excited when someone used to call us. But now , we think-
• Why is he calling ?
• What does he want from me ?
• He could have texted.
According to various surveys and reports social media is the major reason for increased feeling of loneliness , diminishes self esteem , and lead to anti-social behaviour.
Loneliness , are you kidding me?
No , I am not. There used to be a time when we used to have a group of 5-10 very close friends with whom we used to play every evening. But now , very rarely we have 1 or 2 close friend. A person might have 1000 followers on Instagram but not a single friend with whom he can share his feelings.
Diminishes self-esteem , yeah it does.
This might sound crazy , but it does diminish self esteem. The social media or "The Fake World" , where everyone try to show how cool they are , how happy they are , may result in dinminishing of one's self-esteem. On social media we troll anyone and everyone. We find it funny because we are on giving side , but , think about the person on the recieving side , whom you are trolling. How much mental trauma he would have been feeling. His self esteem would die.
How social media is making us anti-social?
First of all , Is social media making us anti-social ?
Have you ever come across an accident , a person lying on the road , requesting his fellow humans to help him , but they were busy clicking pictures and posting on social media " To drive safely. "
Mr. Social Activist , Are you a Hypocrite or an idiot ?
I think you are both.
Now , the only duty we think of ourselves is to post on social media. We post-
Clean your environment , but throw garbage here and there.
We write save birds , but never put water for birds.
We write save trees , but waste paper at the same time.
I am not saying posting all this on social media is wrong , but first of all implement it yourself.
Have you ever thought , how addict you are towards your mobile phone?
In an survey , it was found that 90% of the people chose internet as their basic need.
Yeah , you read it correctly.
Are you one of those 90% ?

What is the first thing you do , after waking up ?
The first thing that most of the people do is checking their phone.
Isn't this addiction.
We wish good morning to the person we have never met , and probably will never meet in the near future. But , don't know about the condition of person living the next door.
We all want to look cool on social media , always clicking pictures , to post on social media.
I agree we should frame the memories. But , in an effort to make memories for our future , we forget to live and enjoy the present.
We ruin the most precious moments of our lives clicking memories for future.
