What is degree of separation? Is it really helpful?

Often when we start any new thing we are afraid to tell our friends ,relatives and sometimes even to our parents. As we are afraid that ,

* How will they react?

* What will they think of me?.....and  so on.

These thoughts make the task even more difficult for a newbie to start. As , for example you want to start your website , and ,

Your cousin is expert in the field , so asking for help would really help you a lot. 

OR

One of the friend of your cousin has expertise in the field can really help you a lot.

So asking for help can really be beneficial for you in one way or the another.

But sometimes you are damn sure that no one in your circle has the thing that you need , then the concept of Degree of separation comes in action.

What is Degree of separation?

" On an average every person on this globe are just six connections away from each other. "

That is if you want to meet Jeff Bezos ,then he can be just six connections away from you.

No,its not a joke or anything rubbish at all. Its proven fact you just need that one right person who can give the next essential link and you will realize that one end of the 6 link long chain is holded by the person you wanted to meet , yeah you are right , one end by you and other by Jeff Bezos.

Isn't this great.

It can really help you a lot in learning and most importantly getting that exposure in the field you want to excel in.

How to use the concept of degree of separation?

Let me explain this with the help of an example ,

When you get stuck in a math problem , what you generally do is , you send that problem to your  friend. If he couldn't solve it by his own , he send it to another friend and ultimately you get the solution. Your connections lead you to the right person you needed. 

Similar is the application and the use of the concept of degree of separation.

When you are starting task never hesitate in asking for help. Because , if you ask for help to your well wishers they will definitely try helping you even if they have to go out of the box for that.

Degree of separation a hopeful concept

 

The degree of separation can also be considered as a hope that if you ask for help then definitely you will get it , of course its not certain that it will work , but atleast there is hope , some probability that you are going to get benefited ofcourse its not a concept that will have 100% success , but it will definitely help you develop a healthy community of people sharing common ideas , and helping each other develop.
