Engineers Day 2020: 15th September, the day we celebrate as the "National Engineer's Day" .
We celeberate this day to appreciate the contribution of Bharat
Ratna awardee.
Sir M. Visvesvaraya ,an Indian civil engineer. His birthday 15 September is celebrated as Engineers Day not only in India but other countries like
Sri lanka and
Tanzania.
Sir M. Visvesvaraya has been on various prestigious posts. He has also served as the "19th Diwan of Mysore".
Why should you celebrate Engineer's Day ?
Engineers are considered as the creator , modifier, and enhancer of the human society. The reasons why you owe a thank to the engineers of the country-
•Betterment of our lives:
Engineers work hard to make our life better in all possible ways.
They try to cater all our needs. All the complexities of our lives are tried to be solved by the engineers.
•National servant:
Engineers help the country to develop its infrastructure.
Engineers serve the country by manufacturing defence weapons as well.
•Contributes to the economy
The start ups and the business persued by the engineers help the country to build its economy.
India's Engineer Problem:
•
Lack of good engineering institutes:
In India every year around 11 lakhs student appear for the nation's prestigious entrance exam
JEE Main out of which only 30-40 thousand students get a seat in IITs, NITs , IIITs ,etc rest all take admission in either state level Universities or private institutions.
•Unemployment-
The engineers graduated from state level Universities and private universities either don't get the job or if they get them they are extremely underpaid. Which leads to the unemployment in the country.
•Education system is not evolving.
However engineers are supposed to bring the evolution in various fields but they themselves have to experience an ancient teaching style. But I considered those who experience this teaching style lucky because in most of the cases they don't even get this chance as most of the teachers are not intrested in teaching itself .
• Universities not interested in students development-
I am not talking of the IITs, NITs ,IIITs or other premium institutions. University only cares about the assignments that they assign. They don't really care about the practical knowledge of the students.
The overall personality of the student is not nurtured , which leads them to unsuccessful carriers.
•Students are also responsible for failure they achieve as an engineer.
The students persuing engineering will have to take the credit of their failure as they don't try themselves to enhance their technical and soft skills which eventually lead them to failure.
"Blaming the system can never be an excuse"
